No evidence of recent avalanche activity with good visibility yesterday.
There is 120 cm of snow at lodge level (1600 m). At treeline and in the alpine there is more variability but it averages about 150 cm. Upper treeline and alpine areas show a fair amount of wind effect.
Soft surface layers give way to a strong mid- and lower pack. The lower half of the pack contains a variety of melt-freeze crusts, exactly how many and their characteristics depend on the elevation. There is a thicker melt-freeze crust on the ground that shows some facetting. Four profiles so far have not produced significant shears but we have not been above 2000m.
Good skiing but a rime crust down 10cm hurt my shins! Warm weather forecast may change that.
